negative_timeout

Sets the duplicate-cache lifetime for a UDP no-response result. These results include a policy discard action and a pipeline error that does not produce a rejection.

duplicate_cache {
    negative_timeout 1s;
}

The value is a duration. Default: 1s.

Radiator suppresses matching retransmissions during this short period. After the entry expires, a retransmission starts normal AAA processing again. Set the value to 0s to disable negative caching.

The short lifetime prevents a client retransmission from immediately repeating a failed backend operation. It only suppresses the same RADIUS request; it does not limit new requests.

Radiator does not create cache entries for unsupported packet types or missing policies. These cases do not use the negative timeout.
