Radiator Server Documentation — v10.34.1

loglevel

This specifies the priority level that depends on the severity of the message. The loglevel attribute is used in all logging methods including syslog.

There are six possible values for the loglevel:

  • off: Disables logging.
  • error: Logs only error messages. It is possible to see if the application is running.
  • warning: Logs non critical error situations.
  • info: Logs informational, warning, and error messages, providing a general overview of the system's status. Recommended for production setups.
  • debug: Logs more detailed debugging information.
  • trace: Logs protocol level information for each request and response. This can be very noisy.

Syslog severity codes

Within a syslog logger, loglevel also accepts numeric RFC 5424 severity codes. Radiator groups the codes by the closest available filtering threshold:

  • 0 (emergency), 1 (alert), 2 (critical), and 3 (error) map to error.
  • 4 (warning) maps to warning.
  • 5 (notice) and 6 (informational) map to info.
  • 7 (debug) maps to debug.

Named values, including off and trace, remain available in every logger type.

RADIATOR_LOG_LEVEL overrides configured application log levels, and --debug selects application level debug when that environment variable is unset. AAA logging is driven by named AAA logger configuration and log actions instead of application log levels. Secret exposure requires both RADIATOR_LOG_LEVEL=trace and --unmask-secrets. See the logging overview for details.
